Too Far North Productions had its beginnings in the late 1980s in the Red Lion
Tavern & BBQ when part owners Craig Heimbigner and Karyn Christner decided to
bring in bands to increase business. There were local blues favorites at the time, Too
Slim & The Taildraggers, Bakin’ Phat, The Dawgs, and this led to blues acts from
Seattle/Portland like Curtis Salgado and Kathy Hart. National touring acts (mostly
blues) followed, the first being Buddy Guy & Jr Wells (2 shows). Many followed; Norton
Buffalo, Roy Rogers, Dan Hicks, Eddie Clearwater, Lonnie Brooks, Sue Foley, Mark
Hummel, Charlie Musselwhite, C.J. Chenier, Average White Band, Tish Hinojosa, Dave
Van Ronk, Jimmy Johnson, many many more.
This led to a mentorship with Mike Smith at The Met (Bing Crosby) and bringing years
of acts to that theater, beginning with The Met’s first sold out show, Taj Mahal.
